A person was killed and two Boston Police officers were injured during an apparent shootout late Wednesday, officials said.
The incident was reported about 10:50 p.m. ET when police responded to a person with a gun and the officers “came under fire,” police officials tweeted.
One of the officers was critically injured during the incident and another is in stable condition, Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans told WCVB. One of the officers was shot multiple times, he said.
Evans called the incident a “domestic incident gone bad.”
The suspect died at the scene of the shooting, inside a home, the commissioner said.
Residents in the East Boston area were asked to remain inside their homes, officials tweeted. The area was secured and the shelter-in-place was lifted after a suspect was in custody.
