A 17-year-old Lancaster girl has died following injuries she sustained in a vehicle crash in Drumore Twp. earlier in the month, state police said Saturday.
According to Pennsylvania State Police at Lancaster, the girl was driving a female passenger, also 17, in the area of Fishing Creek Hollow Road on Sept. 4 when their vehicle drove up an embankment and hit a tree stump that caused it to roll over.
The girl was partially ejected from the vehicle and trapped underneath until she was removed by first responders. Both she and her passenger were hospitalized for injuries.
At the time of the crash, police say, the driver was not suspected to have life threatening injuries. On Thursday, however, she was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after her injuries worsened.
On Friday, the girl died.
Pennsylvania State Police have not released her name. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office was unavailable on Saturday evening.
